Inductive art / cuddle bone casting 

Cuddle bone casting requires the artist to cut a shape into a piece of bone from the cuddle fish. Cuddle bone jewelry makes the inductive art cut because no matter what shape one cuts into the bone nature has the last say; once again,  “waite and and see”. One of my first pieces was the cross pictured below. The cross was cut into the bone quickly with a nail file.  Nature provided the art with the striations that made the cross design majestic. 

Pictured to the right of the cross and below are other pieces that took advantage of the cuddle bone structure. 

Often I cut an abstract shape into the bone and what appeared after the casting determined if it had a purpose or reason for being. Those shapes that I wanted to reproduce were created using the list wax process which would probably be a deductive approach as the end product e was predictable. 

This piece of jewelry appeared when I cut a piece of Malachite In two. What appeared was a likeness of the Virgin Mary. Maybe I should send this to the Vatican!  The silver incasement design was dictated by the shape of the rock.
